Setup
Four players, two partnerships. Use 52 standard cards, no Jokers. Deal 13 cards to each player. Spades are trump; Ace is the highest Spade.
Play
Bid books as a partnership. Follow suit if able. The highest Spade in a book wins; otherwise the highest card of the led suit wins.
Classic scoring
Successful bids: 10 points per book bid, plus 1 point per overbook. Missed bids: minus 10 points per book bid. First team to 500 wins. Nil and bag penalties are not included in this version.
Quick Match
First team to win seven books wins the round. First team to win four rounds wins the match.
